As a kid growing up in Boulder, my Uncle Ray was a Master Silversmith and made buckles and leather saddles for the National Western Stock Show.
On the weekends our parents would drop us off with Uncle Ray and Aunt Patsy at their small farm East of Boulder, and Ray would set my brother and I up with leather tooling dies and scrap leather to play with.
Patsy had an amazing collection of Elvis memorabilia including a ceramic head of the King, as well as spoons and glassware with his image. All of this would jingle and clang when the train came by daily just behind their back door.
The Travelin’ Light Portfolio was born from these fond memories of childhood and the creativity of our relatives…
In addition to being a great Silversmith, Uncle Ray was the Exalted Ruler of the Boulder Elks Club where we would play bingo on weekends.
